Boozy Coffee for Winter

Coffee, a morning drink or the secret to life, you decide. Coffee is a splendid morning drink that not only offers a caffeine boost, but for some reason warms the soul. Most people I know drink coffee daily, and like me, they drink it multiple times a day. In my thirty two years of life, I do not think I have ever met someone who did not drink coffee, I mean I did not drink it at all. I know people who drink decaf, but that is still coffee, so that counts. However, meeting someone who does not drink coffee in any form, never met them. I believe that for one specific reason, coffee is the secret to life.

As a parent and a teacher, coffee is a must. I will take my coffee in any form, it does not matter to me. I have my preferred set ups, but as long as I get some coffee in my veins I am good to go for the day. My preferred set ups come with the holidays obviously, once pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha hits the shelves that is all I drink in my coffee. Once the holidays disappear then I go back to simple set ups. Black coffee some mornings and then some days it may just be normal creamer of any flavor.

At this point in life we are just using regular store bought coffee and a good old Mr. Coffee pot. This combo has not let us down yet. However, in my earlier years, pre kids, I used to buy small business coffee beans and grind them up myself. I will be honest, I am not a coffee snob, but the fresh ground coffee from a local market or small business beats the big box brands every time. At times we still get ourselves a bag of small business coffee to enjoy, coffee in the winter seems to hit the body differently, so we tend to buy the better coffees when the cold fronts come in.

With winter winds officially upon us, I want to also share an adult coffee recipe that the wife and I truly enjoy. We first had this at Olgebay resort in West Virginia during their festival of lights, but since we had it they took it off the menu. So we had to resort to creating our own version at home. Here's how we do it, it was called the Snuggler at Olgebay, at home we call it the Smuggler.
