Nutcracker Village

Imagine a cute little town decorated with hundreds of life size nutcrackers and Christmas decorations. If you can picture that, you get an idea of what Steubenville, Ohio has to offer.

This small little town was a joy for the entire family. From the moment we got the kids out of the car, till the moment we left, they were smiling and having a great time. I cannot even put into words the amount of joy my heart gets from seeing the little ones so happy. This trip was well worth it, and the best part was that it was completely free to partake in. Besides the 35 minute drive, the entire nutcracker town and activities were free of charge, that's a true Christmas miracle. The day started with us walking around the town and checking out only a portion of the life sized nutcrackers scattered around. The kids had a few favorites, pictures below, and so did the parents.

After checking out the nutcrackers around town, we made our way to the small little village they had set up at the town's center park. It was beautiful, they had a large tree decorated with two small trains going around it. The fence was fully decorated with wreaths and lights as well. They offered free trolley rides for the little ones and an old Punchy puppet show that was the highlight of the night for our two. The trolley ride was fun for the two kids, but watching the Punchy puppet show was amazing. It was interactive and hilarious, even to my wife and I. We laughed just as the kids did. Tanner was very into the show, screaming, laughing, pointing and standing up in pure joy. It made our hearts grow three sizes that day. Ava enjoyed it also, especially with the spider being involved.

After the show we made our way to explore the old Steubenville fort. Tanner was very excited to go inside an actual fort, considering we build our own out of blankets and chairs weekly. He was so surprised how old it was, and how many different buildings were inside. We walked the entire fort looking at replicas of the blacksmithing forges, officers quarters and the best part, the watch tower overlooking the river. It really was a unique experience. Very educational for us all, and eye opening to Tanner of how they lived and fought many years ago. Enjoy the pictures below from the day out and if you want to watch the video we made from the entire day you can check us out on YouTube at Welcome to the Millers.

Hope you enjoy it!
